Nipple tattooing sweeps UK as women strive for 'perfect boobs' - Telegraph.co.uk

Nipple tattooing sweeps UK as women strive for 'perfect boobs' - Telegraph.co.uk

She explains: "A lot of people want their nipples made darker. It’s the fashion. Some people think theirs are too pink or their boyfriends want them done. I think sometime they are doing it because they are conscious of them being pale and they think it’s fashionable to have dark nipples. They'll look at the magazines and page 3 and unfortunately a lot of it might be peer pressure.

“The girls get them done so they can go topless and not be embarrassed, or when they're in a changing room and getting changed. They can go on holiday in front of their partners, go for massages, spray tans and just not be conscious of their body."

The two-hour procedure, which can cost up to £1,200 for both nipples, lasts around 12 to 18 months and top-ups are recommended to restore any colour lost as the ink fades over time. The nipples are made to look natural by matching ink colours to skin tones, which are then shaded and tattooed on to the anaesthetised nipple. Several weeks after the procedure, it is all repeated to restore fading and add finishing touches.

In Liverpool, a number of salons already offer nipple tattooing and there at least 15 independent technicians based in the area. It is rapidly catching up with vajazzles, designer vaginas and boob jobs as the latest cosmetic procedure available to women nationwide.

Danielle Price, an Essex-based technician says: "A lot of people still don’t know about it, but it is definitely getting more popular. I have seen a huge change in clientele. They used to be so much older and professional. Now I'm getting really young girls aged 18 to 25.

“Some girls do come to me and say their boyfriends will like it more. It’s a bit worrying to think they would go out and get it done just because of that, and I wouldn’t do it for them until they were sure they wanted it. The younger generation are so hung up on everything being just so, it’s quite sad really.”

Claire Jagger, 38, had her nipples tattooed after having a boob job. She says: “To me, it was the finishing touch after getting my breasts done. My nipples were quite fair in colour, no different from any ordinary girl, but I wanted to enhance them to make them darker. I wanted the shape to be perfect, and now I feel great because I have absolutely perfect nipples.”

The idea of 'perfect nipples' may be born out of page 3 girls and glamour models, but many women are having their nipples done for other reasons. Danielle explains, "Often women have one breast bigger than the other, so having their nipples tattooed can create symmetry. For women who have pale or patchy nipples as a result of skin conditions, it can restore the colour. It can also define the areolae for women whose nipples have changed after breast implants."

Michelle, a 32-year-old mum, had her nipples done to make them bigger and darker. “My nipples were very small and childlike. I felt like a young girl,” she says. “My boobs grew when I was younger but my nipples didn’t, and they didn’t have rings, so they looked a bit wrong. I decided to get it done and it was quite a simple procedure, really straightforward, quick and didn’t hurt.

"It was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I know my boobs aren’t on show but it has still given me so much more confidence. My new nipples are better than any natural ones I could have had. When I go swimming now I’m not self-conscious about my nipples showing through my bikini. With my partner I didn’t want to take my bra off before but now that’s gone, so our relationship is better. I feel more out-going and more content in my body.”

Graham Offer, from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, stresses: “If people are going to get it done they need to go to a proper medical tattooist rather than down to the local tattoo parlour.”

He warns that although the procedure is medically safe, women must think about the effects. “I'd recommend people give it consideration and thought because it’s permanent and you don't know what the effects will be as the breast changes over time. The nipple-areola complex will change with pregnancy, so people need to think about their future."

Women like Claire and Michelle are already thinking of their future - a future filled with spray tans, bikinis and perfect nipples.

Amanda Seyfried On Her Boobs: 'There Was Something So Beautiful About The ... - Huffington Post

Amanda Seyfried doesn't mind getting candid about, well, most things. The 27-year-old actress has talked about the bumps around her bikini line and her love of Hugh Jackman, and she even told David Letterman on-air, "I have to go on record saying I've never done a live television after, um, noon without some kind of liquid courage." Nice.

She's also willing to chat openly about her boobs and how excellent they are. The "Mean Girls" (yes, she'll always be Karen to us) spoke to Allure in the May 2013 issue:

She once referred to her breasts in an interview as "sacks of fat," a description that she now reconsiders. "Actually, I saw a picture a couple of days ago from when I was 19, and my boobs were way bigger. They were a D, and now they're a small C, because I lost weight," she says. "There was something so beautiful about the size of them. When I look back, I'm like, Why did I always give myself such a hard time?"

Which, honestly, is refreshing to hear. While many stars -- hello, Sofia Vergara! -- take pride in their ample chests, few celebs will admit that perhaps they looked just as pretty (or prettier) at a heavier weight than they're at now.

Amanda, of course, doesn't really mind admitting anything. This is the gal, after all, who told the New York Post that she would have totally posed nude for this month's Allure: "I would have, but my publicist wouldn’t let me!"

Check out the rest of Amanda's Allure interview online or in the mag, which hits newsstands April 22.

Holly Hagan: Men don't like fake boobs - Now Magazine Online

Holly Hagan recently underwent a second boob job, taking her up to a 32FF, but she reckons most fellas prefer the natural look.

The flame-haired Geordie Shore beauty, 21,says: 'My boobs aren't finished yet.

'When I get back from Australia I'm getting the excess skin taken away and the boobs lifted. It's a massive op but they're worth it.

'I'll never go under the knife again for vanity purposes though.

'If I hadn't absolutely needed them doing again I wouldn't have had them done.'

'Anyway, I didn't get them done
to get attention from men - I did it for me.

'I don't think men like fake boobs anyway.

Despite that, she says she hopes she will be 'tashing on' with some of the men in Australia when Geordie Shore films in Oz.

'I'll be in a bi kini most of the time and I'll feel much more confident than before,' she says.

Mind Over Boobs - Harvard Crimson

Mind Over Boobs - Harvard Crimson

“My body belongs to me, and is not a source of anyone’s honor.”

These words, written in Arabic and plastered across Amina Tyler’s bare-breasted body, elicited backlash from Tunisian Islamic authorities after the 19-year-old posted her nude picture on Facebook.

In response, FEMEN, a Ukrainian feminist group, launched a “Topless Jihad Day,” where members of the group crowded around streets and mosques with phrases such “Arab Women Against Islamism” and “Freedom to All Women” painted on their nude bodies. Their goal was to defend Amina’s rights and, moreover, to liberate Muslim women from the oppression of their Islamic society. And with this goal, FEMEN’s extremely offensive message that Muslim women need liberating is overlooked under the pretense of defending a young woman’s freedom of expression.

Amina’s message is beautiful, and I wholeheartedly agree with it: Her body is hers, and she has the right to use it as she pleases, including as a canvas of expression. It is not the source of anyone else’s honor. I even respect the bold executionâ€"it definitely caught my attention. What I do not appreciate is FEMEN’s inability to accept Muslim women’s definition of freedom. I do not respect their projection of their ideals onto me, or their implication that I am too weak and oppressed to speak for myself.

It is ridiculous how widely accepted it is that Muslim women are oppressed in choosing to cover their bodies. This “clash of civilizations”â€"more accurately explained as the clash of ignorance by Edward Saidâ€"is preserving the idea that Islamic views and Western views cannot c oincide. I know how much Western society loves its feminism: I was born and raised into it with a strong, highly educated and respected mother who kicks butt in her fieldâ€"all while wearing a headdress. That being said, it is almost imperialist to apply Western concepts of feminism to other cultures. There are varying definitions of feminism, and not all urge a woman to flaunt her body because it is her right. On the contrary, feminism from the Muslim perspective encourages women to be modest in their dress and to be seen as equal intellectuals, not merely as bodies.

Just as some women feel strong and confident showing a little skin, veiled Muslim women feel strong and confident covering their skinâ€"and there is nothing wrong with either. The West may see oppression in Muslim women covering their bodies at the will of a male-dominated society in the same way Muslim women may see oppression in the objectification of Western women’s bodies at the hands of a male-dominated society. I am a veiled, Muslim-American woman, and I am also a feminist. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive.

The message that has been spawned by this “noble movement” is disgraceful. FEMEN seems to imply that Islam is to be blamed for global sexism. Imperialist rhetoric that Islam is a woman-hating religion and stands on five pillars of sexism does nothing but aid the global surge of Islamophobia. No other nations, religions, or cultures are targeted to quite the same extent. In turn, this opens the door of opportunity for oth er countries that have a perpetual track record of discriminating against their women, the U.S. included, to point the finger at Muslim societies.

The vast majority of veiled Muslim women are not oppressed in their hijabs, and even if we were we (and even to those veiled Muslim women who are being oppressed) sure as heck are not seeking liberation from a group of women who will insult our religious beliefs in order to affirm their own self-importance. As another Muslim woman put it, “We won’t be needing any of that ‘White-non-Muslim-women-saving-Muslim-women-from-Muslim-men’ crap!” FEMEN holding up signs that read “Fuck your Morals” is not liberating usâ€"it is simply making us angry. I am all for supporting Amina and her rights, but when it is done through plain offense, Islamophobia, and at the expense of the rep utation of over a billion Muslims, I will stand my ground. We do not need saving. We do not need you to defend us. We can speak for ourselves. And moreover, we do not need to flaunt our breasts to feel liberated.

I understand that FEMEN is trying to defend Amina, but supporting her rights by attacking a religion is counterproductive to their movement. If they find freedom through being nude, then that is great. All the power to them. As for me, my mind is my means of liberation. Not my boobs.

NYPD Investigates Boobs On The LES, But The Bust Is A Bust - Gothamist

ROX Gallery's display (Bowery Boogie)

Last night the ROX Gallery in the Lower East Side opened its show, "Who Shot Natalie White," an exhibit that examines the puzzling fascination that male art photographers have with naked person Natalie White. But the show was nearly shut down by the NYPD's 7th Precinct Sybaritic Squad, who visited the gallery after complaints were made about White's nude form appearing in the display facing Delancey Street. Thankfully, cooler heads and warmer loins prevailed: White led the officers on a topless tour of the exhibit and the NYPD left a little more cultured. “It was like a moment out of ‘The Big Lebowski,’ ” White told the Post, presumably as she examined a bizarre sketch on a sticky note made by Lieutenant Jackie Treehorn.

Who complained about the image of a nude woman masturbating? “The ones who complain are the old people," ROX Gallery curator Gregory de la Haba says. “One walked in from the street and said, ‘Take this pornography down!’ I had no reaction. She kept saying ‘Take it down. It’s pornography!’ ” Sounds like someone's still sore about that "lost invitation" to Peter Beard's beach shack.

White's attorney, Al Pacino in that pretty cool, underrated movie Ron Kuby, was skeptical as to why the police showed up at all: “Why did they feel it was necessary to come inside and meet the naked girl? Maybe they're just being thorough, leaving no stone unturned."

At least they didn't try to fix the cable.

For you amateur investigators out there, here's a video accompanying the exhibit of Natalie White eating a cheeseburger naked, among other things [NSFW unless you work at the NYPD]
