Â
Iâm not going to tell you which of our famous line up of autograph signers said that (it wasnât any of the fellows in the photo above), but after three hours of signing posters, hats, and All the Covers HOT ROD books, the guys and gals might have been willing to sign anything.
Â
The line-up included former HOT ROD publisher Harry Hibler, creator of the Manx dune buggy Bruce Meyers, King of the Diesels Gale Banks, Engine builder Ed Pink, Edelbrockâs own Vic Edelbrock Jr, Racers Tommy Ivo, Roland Leong, and Don Prudhomme, Builders George Barris and Steve Strope, Camfather Ed Iskenderian, GTO-father Jim Wangers, photographer Bob Dolivio, HOT ROD editors Rob Kinnan, Jeff Smith, and Steve Campbell, and even the lovely Courtney Hansen and Linda Vaughn, stolen away from the GM booth. We might be leaving someone out, we were starstruck.
Â
Hereâs the rub though. We were sad about the signing, because it didnât include hundreds of people who should have been there. Some couldnât join us because of distance; Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, âJungleâ Pam Hardy, we have been missing you this weekend. Some couldnât join us because of the finality of time. To all those legends we have lost, we miss you always.
